I want to introduce myself before I get too far into the post. My name is May-Lin and I started at Mini Melanie around September of last year. I have spent the past 5 years working in kitchens, but was always curious about how a business actually runs, so here at Mini Melanie I am a baker, but am also a marketing and promotions coordinator; a really cool hybrid role.
Anyways, the real reason why we’re here is to announce that we are introducing our new website! The whole Mini Melanie team is super excited about the launch, and we can’t wait for you all to see it and interact with it. I wanted to take a moment to chat with co-founders Melanie and Diana about this project and what it means for the company moving forward.
May-Lin: What made you want to create a new website?
Melanie: It was time to make an upgrade in our shopping experience for our customers and to solidify our brand message. In 2020, we had to pivot very rapidly into more of an e-commerce model. Now that our small business made it through the pandemic, we are driven to improve our products and to make the overall experience of enjoying our products a delight!
May-Lin: What is the operations team focused on day to day?
Diana: We really focus on the service we give to our customers. Everything we ship is perishable, so to ensure that all our delicious treats are fresh when they arrive, we do not ship over the weekend because it can get stuck in transit.
The shipping team puts a lot of love and care into shipping your goodies! We have different sized boxes depending on what we are shipping you and we use all natural, biodegradable packaging to keep you and the earth happy. Along with the packages, you might see some new brochures and packaging, these will tell all of our customers about our brand story and about any new products.
More exciting news is that we recently expanded our operation in Brooklyn! We now have a whole separate room for all the shipping we do and it is a game changer. This helps us to ensure that the product arrives in perfect condition and tastes great for all Mini Melanie customers.
May-Lin: Are there any new products we should be on the lookout for with the new launch?
Melanie: Absolutely! We have brand new Cake Truffle flavors that we are so excited about. Our whole culinary team worked together to develop classic cake inspired flavors like Brooklyn Blackout, Strawberry Shortcake, and more that you have to try in the Signature Mix. Don’t miss, as well, our Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cake Pops. Irresistible! Expect a summer Layer Cake release, as well as seasonal Cookie Decorating Kits and a brand new product launch coming this summer.
May-Lin: Does this mean that I won’t be able to get my favorite products anymore?
Diana: We think you will find the new flavors even better than the old ones! However, we are always here to listen to any feedback and are open to bringing back some of the classics you know and love.
May-Lin: Are customers allowed to give feedback and ideas about products and the new website?
